"The OAS is laughable?

Honduras's political crisis took a key role, just accomplished the coup, the Organization of American States. Special meetings of the Secretary-General visits the scene of the events, fiery speeches of many ambassadors, tear of vestments for democracy ...

The situation has been such that the organization decides to implement what is enshrined in its charter and unprecedented event in the history of an organization that traditionally governments quickly recognized the coup, suspending one of its members.

Pradójicamente at its previous meeting, the OAS decided to swing back and allow Cuba to re-enter the body, if necessary and take steps toward greater democratic openness, more than forty years after being expelled because of his conversion to communism dangerous times of the Cold War. The OAS in the sixties could accept right-wing dictatorships and national security states human rights violators like few others, but never a government of a socialist, revolutionary and close to the deceased Soviet Union.

The Cuban case can see a very simple, the measure did not work for nothing. Castro's government remained "still in power, the socialist system is still in Cuba, and the OAS very well thanks ...

Thus, in the Honduran political crisis and the suspension of Cuba's membership, we see again the limited nature of the actions and the almost zero effectiveness of OAS sanctions.

The coup government is maintained, the Honduran border are still open (not allow the great American entrepreneurs see their economic interests affected by more liberties and democracy that claim to be ...), a state of siege and toque curfew still in force, the president again Zelayaanuncia entry to Honduras ...

The OAS has been losing ground in the process, attempts at mediation and dialogue are sponsored by the government of Costa Rica, the deposed president seeks support from various governments measures (cutting diplomatic relations, no recognition of the coup government, suspension of financial aid, etc.). Thus, international pressure continues and may increase, but the OAS did not already have more weight ... its measures are not sufficient to force a reinstall of the government and a return to constitutional order.

interventions are general secretary and tried dwindling interest now from reelection, thus denying it legitimacy in the political crisis and thus will further limit their scope of action in seeking a solution to the problem Honduran .

rest Forty years later, the case of Honduras, and the Cuban case, only serve to remind us as Carlos Puebla said that the OAS is laughable ...
